The Mindful Self-Compassion Workbook
Kristin Neff & Christopher Germer
Kristin Neff is the researcher who established self-compassion as a measurable, distinct construct from self-esteem; Christopher Germer is a clinical psychologist who built much of the curriculum that grew up around her work. This is the workbook version of the program they developed together — exercises, scripts, and reflections that move self-compassion from concept to practice. It rewards being used, not just read.
Why I recommend this one
Self-compassion sounds soft until you try to actually do it. This is the book I hand to people who are kind to everyone in their life except themselves. The exercises feel awkward at first, which is the point.
