Schedule a free consultation→EMDR
A therapy that helps the brain reprocess difficult memories so they no longer carry the same emotional weight.
What it is
When something overwhelming happens, the brain sometimes stores the memory in a way that keeps it feeling present and unresolved. Sounds, images, or sensations from the event can trigger the same distress as if it were happening again.
EMDR helps the brain reprocess those memories using bilateral stimulation — typically guided eye movements. The goal is not to erase the memory but to allow the brain to file it away the way it does with ordinary experiences, so it no longer hijacks your emotions or your body.
When it helps
My approach
I am trained in EMDR at the introductory level and use it as one tool among several for trauma work. For clients whose distress is rooted in specific memories that talk therapy alone has not fully resolved, EMDR can help the brain do what it has been trying to do on its own. I introduce it when the clinical picture suggests it will be effective, always within the context of our broader therapeutic relationship.
